Nice relaxing and quiet Christmas

Ryan's tradition since we have moved to Corpus is to play golf on Christmas Eve, so he did that, while Abigail and I went walking with a friend and enjoyed looking at some Christmas decorations. Sure is different during the day looking at decorations then at night when there all lite up. Our Christmas meal was yummy, I actually cooked. Ryan and I exchanged our gifts Christmas Eve, but we waited until the big day to do the grand opening of gifts. We got some really nice gifts from Mom/Grandma J, and Ab was having fun watching. Next year will be even better when she can tear into the gifts. I think Molly was feeling left out, she was trying to open gifts, but then we realized we didn't get the dogs anything to open, opps, have to remember that next year. I feel sometimes for our dogs, they get left out a lot now. They don't get there daily walks, as I haven't been able to master a stroller and the dogs at once. They miss out on car rides, as there isn't enough room for two dogs, two adults, and a baby in a car seat, we need a mini bus. But what they get to enjoy is watching Abigail grow, and soon someday the three of them will be running around in circles, oh my I can see it now, there goes the house!

Christmas fun in south Texas...

One can not describe what we saw last night. We went to Candy Cane Lane, nothing like the Candy Cane Lane I went to when I was a kid in Minnesota. This Candy Cane Lane was a million times better, though when I was a kid I thought the one I saw was way cool! There were hundreds of people walking and driving by to see all the houses decorated, handing out cookies, candy, and hot cider. There were carolers, a band, and even Santa was there to see the kiddies. It took us an hour and half to walk and see all the lights. Abigail was looking and seemed very happy seeing all the colorful lights, now to wonder what she may have been thinking! We didn't take many pictures we were to into looking at there was to see with amazement. But I captured Daddy and Abigail and of course only in Texas would you find a football on the big screen. There are some really die hard Dallas fans! So ho,ho,ho and Merry Christmas to all!!

First tiara....

We had a Christmas get together last night with Tiffany & the cutie Harper. The girls got Abigail her first tiara, of course she will need a little more hair before she can wear her crown, but for now it sits on top of piggy on her shelf waiting for her. Of course daddy doesn't like it, just like the pig they gave her. I though on the other hand think it is the most adorable thing I have seen and it will be so precious on our little girl. After some yummy dinner we went and watch preschoolers perform there Christmas concert at a local church, it was so cute and fun! Abigail even enjoyed watching the little kids sign, I wonder what she was thinking...hmmm...

Potluck fun...

We had our first mama & kiddo potluck on Friday!! It was a fun time!! All girls, no boys came to the party, but we sure did miss them! We enjoyed some yummy food and Tiff's specialty ice cream parfaits!! Abigail made some new friends too, she enjoyed watching the girls play and I am sure she was wishing she could join in on the fun!

Today we dressed her in her engineer bibs, and of course she looks as cute as ever. Daddy just loved them!! Now she likes to multi-task, just like her mom-we got her holder her toy while sucking her thumb.

My new do...

Finally got my hair done and I found someone that is really good and actually somewhat reasonable in price. In Minnesota I use to only pay about $60 to get my hair cut and colored, when I moved here I had to start paying double, sometimes more, which is ridiculous. But I do like my new length, much easier to manage and Abigail can't grab at it too much when I wear it down.

So what else is going on in our household? We are finishing up on getting ready for Christmas and we have our first little get together on Friday. My mama friends and the kiddos are getting together for an afternoon potluck! Then next week, we have our holiday party at CCAC and the fun party at my friend Courtney's. It is going to be a blast! Though I am having difficulty getting an ugly Christmas sweater to wear to the party. She is having contest at the party to see who wears the ugliest sweater, I believe I am going to be loser on this one, but will see, maybe I will get one yet.

We had a wonderful mama and baby yoga class this week, I love the group! We are all fast becoming friends!! I do need to get some pics of our group, so you can see all the fun we have in class. Abigail is really enjoying the classes, she loves being around other babies. She rolled from her back to her tummy all by herself in class the other day, I was so amazed! But I had to keep on teaching and not get too excited. She has been trying her hardest to get over, but was always getting stuck and then all the sudden she just did it. I think she was showing off in class.

We had some visitors over the weekend. Grandpa Woelpern (aka Ryan's Dad), Bobbi, and Great Grandma drove down from Minnesota in there pickup camper. We enjoyed some family time together at the Botanical Gardens and a walk on the beach. Also compliments of the guys they made the family some good suppers of the grill. We had an early Christmas with them, Bobbi made us some wonderful gifts-jams, salsa, dips, applesauce, also cute towels with the wondeful photography she does and she made Abigail a very cute sweater. Bobbi needs to open her own little gift shop! Now they continue there treck around the US, so you will have to read there blog to see all the fun places they are visiting! Have fun on your trip and thanks for coming for a visit! We enjoyed the company and spending time with ya'll!!

Great Granny

Abigail loved watching the faces Great Granny made to her. Here the two are together, how sweet!

Abigail playing

Abigail loves books, so next on my list is to buy some more books for her, I am getting bored of reading the same two books over and over to her, but she doesn't seem to mind one bit. Also she loves playing in her bumbo, it won't be long and she will not need the bumbo to help her sit up and play.

The days, the months, are flying by...

Abigail will be 3 months old tomorrow, how crazy is that! This little girl has changed so much since the day she has arrived. She is becoming more mellow and relaxed, actually the last two mommy & baby yoga classes, she just chilled out and watched. I think today she was flirting with Cooper, they were talking to each other in baby language, it was so cute! She is starting to have her own vocabulary, rolling more, likes to sit-but she still needs help, she even occupies herself with her hands-she is so fascinated with them, loves to suck on them all the time. She is smiling a lot, which of course makes me smile and I can't stop staring at her, like there is nothing else going on in the world when she is smiling. She is now starting to grow out of her 0-3 months clothes and going to the next section 3-6 months, so she is growing for sure. She has the cutest little chubby checks and buddha belly!

Of course there are times when I am at my wits end because being a mommy full-time sure can be exhausting! So I am so thankful I have such a wonderful husband that helps out and knows when I need to go to yoga class and just have a little time to myself. Sometimes though that time to myself is going to the grocery store. Motherhood teaches you that you can't be selfish and that you have to be very giving and then try to find that balance on how to attend to everyone's needs, plus find time for yourself, so you don't go insane. So some days I struggle with that and then some days are really great! It helps to have wonderful friends like I do! Everyday is different, but in all it sure is one wonderful and crazy ride through life!

So what have we been up to?

Had a wonderful weekend with my hubby and daughter. I also was able to attend a 3 hour yoga workshop, first time I have been away from Abigail that long, and first time daddy Ryan has had Abigail all by himself. The workshop with Doug Swenson was wonderful, it brought me some sanity and peace within. Ryan and Abigail also had a fun afternoon!

Today was my yearly physical appointment, good news my tests results show I am healthy. But the doc kept questioning if I was depressed or had any anxiety, she said a lot of new mothers do. I said nothing out of the ordinary. I had to take Abigail with, as Ryan had to go to work, she was a little fuss bucket the entire appointment, but as soon as we got out to the jeep she fell asleep. So now she is napping and I am enjoying a little quiet time to myself.

So back to the depression/anxiety questioning with the doc. So of course there are times when I feel sad, feel like I don't know myself, and/or stressed. But then there are times when I feel nothing but complete joy and happiness! Motherhood is challenging, just like any job is, but this job has a lot more rewards. Another thing, motherhood is all new to me and I don't have family around to help support me, so it is even more challenging. But like I said nothing out of the ordinary. Life is all about dealing with ups and downs, and your goal is to find contentment/happiness with everything you do. What I did learn from the workshop for myself, is that I do need to find that time where I can spend a little bit of each day doing my yoga practice/mediation, as that got lost when Abigail arrived. Lucky for me, Ab sleeps really well, so by getting up a early then she does each day I have a couple hours to myself where I can accomplish things and have that time I need to charge up for the day, so that I can deal with any obstacles that might arrive.

Ab and I have been enjoying some outings with friends. She really seems to like the coffee shop, she is a people watcher. She also likes to shop, again she is either people watching or sleeping. Last week we attended Musikgarten class. She really liked it, so for Christmas this year we are enrolling her into a 14 week class. Her and I will go to class once a week, sing songs, do some movement, play with some shakers, rattles, and scarves, and do some dancing. Some of our friends are signing up too, so it will be lots of fun for us all.

Our first Thanksgiving with Abigail is arriving this week. I can't wait to put Abigail in her cute Thanksgiving outfit, so watch for a picture of that. We will be going to a friends house, or maybe I should say a couple friends homes, as we were invited by several. So we will be enjoying some good food with friends, but I do wish I could spend it with our families. So to everyone out there that I won't be seeing for Thanksgiving, our family wishes you a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

Cooler weather is here

Abigail ready to go out for the cooler weather, finally sweater time!

Abigail on the move

Abigail loves her play time. She is practicing her rolling and since week 1 she has been lifting her head. I am just waiting for her to roll over completely now. No more leaving her unattended when she is on anything that she could possibly roll off of.

9 weeks and our first shots...

Thought I quickly share, as I know how my family likes to know about Abigail. Ab was a very good girl today when she got her shots, she only cried for a moment, but I think it was harder on me then here. But she is doing very well-she had an excellent report and the doc was very happy! She is now 12lbs 5 oz and 22 inches long. So that explains why my back and wrists hurt from carrying her around, but I should have some good strong biceps soon! :)

2 months old today...

Our little baby girl is two months old today!! She has changed so much since the day she was born. She is ready to party it up!! Yesterday she went to her first mommy playgroup, though she was the youngest one there, these playgroups will be lots of fun. She loves to look around and watch the kiddos play. It won't be long and she will be doing the same, as these two months have gone by so fast.

Friday she has her two month checkup and vaccinations. I have been doing some research and have opted to use Dr. Sear's Alternative Vaccine Schedule. I am excited to see how much our little girl weighs, she has outgrown her newborn clothes and is in her 0-3 months clothes and is wearing 3 month sized socks, apparently our little girl has some big feet, which will be so much better for balance. Big feet like her mom!

Enjoy these beautiful fall days, we are! We have been trecking around in the stroller and enjoying our walks with the cooler weather!

Happy Halloween!!

Today Abigail is 8 weeks old celebrating her first Halloween, though she won't remember it, it will be a lot of fun for us. She has three Halloween outfits, none of which I bought, all were given as gifts. But I have chosen to keep it simple and just put her in her Halloween onesie. She has a bunny outfit, though I think it is yet still a little big and is more like a snowsuit because it is so bulky and warm looking, but I think I will keep it for when we go to a hockey game for her to wear and stay warm in.

This morning we met the girls and kiddos for some coffee and our weekly stroller walk. Always lots of fun and every week it seems like we have someone new in the group. So it is a great way to meet new people.

Have a wonderful Halloween!!

7 weeks old

Abigail has made a new accomplishment....sucking her thumb. After a week of trying and making loud sucking noses in the middle night, she has now mastered it on her own. I have also attached some photos of her in her golf socks, can you tell when Dad dresses Abigail?

Friday was our weekly stroller walk with the mamas and kiddos, always lots of fun. Plus Abigail and I also joined up with a couple good friends last night for a fall festival at a local church. It was just like a mini fair, looking forward to taking Abigail next year to it. It was lots of fun seeing all the kids dressed up in their Halloween outfits and running around.

Abigail is really enjoying being awake now and exploring the world around here. We now only have a few fussy moments, which I am usually able to get her to calm down. Now Ryan isn't so lucky in getting her to calm down. In fact, usually the moment I get out of the house to go run errands or go to a yoga class, she will start to cry. I think she is becoming a mama's girl.

This upcoming week we are going to go try out a music class geared towards babies.

We survived...

Abigail and I survived teaching our first Mommy & Baby Yoga class. Actually even though we had a baby who was fussy and then Abigail got hungry, it was a lot of fun! Babies are unpredictable so you can't plan how the class will go, you just go with the flow and that just makes it that much more fun, staying in the present moment, which is what yoga is about. Looking forward to next week.

Well lucky Abigail she won't have to go to the babysitters tonight when I go teach as Daddio Ryan is home. But really it is more like lucky me, because I am the one having a hard time with it. I am sure Abigail won't care. So maybe next week she will go to her babysitter.

Picture time: Abigail is really loving her bath time now as you can see in the pictures, I remember the first time was a total crying episode, now she just chills out and enjoys! Of course we couldn't resist picture time trying out her baseball hat. Abigail and I practicing yoga, we are ready for class!
