Day after Thanksgiving!!

We had a nice quiet Thanksgiving, it was just the hubby, I and our two sweet kiddos! (Disclaimer: they are not sweet all the time :) We were blessed having the hubby home for most the day, as the railroad was still running trains and he was on-call. Since we had no where to be or go, and I wanted a day off from cooking we went for buffet at a local restaurant and it was yummy. I was amazed by all the people there. This is the one time of the year I miss being near my family the most, though I have no desire to move back to Minnesota, so if y'all would just move here that would be great!!
Here are our two little turkey's dressed and ready to go:

Afterwards we relaxed and then went for a drive to see some Christmas lights, one or our favorite things to do during the holiday season.

Today just the kiddos and I, and no we are not going Black Friday shopping. I may be a little crazy, but I am not that crazy, plus I hate shopping. Yes I know I am a girl, but not something I enjoy doing. Though I am already almost done with Christmas shopping for the year and the rest will be done locally or on-line. We don't spend a lot at Christmas. We are blessed beyond our needs, so we focus on three gifts for our kiddo's. One thing fun to play with, one educational and one thing to wear. I can't help but think of the many that don't have much or can afford to buy things. After reading Jen Hatmaker's book Interrupted I found some statics and this basically sums it up:

On Friday's I usually share blog articles that speak to me, but today going to share some deals and favorites. Please feel free to share in the comment section, any deals you find and I love to hear your favorite quotes or Bible verses!

Colossians 4:2, which says “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.”  Simple verse broken down into four steps to help remember to be thankful:
1 -Devotion to God
2  -Prayer
3 – Be Alert to blessings
4 – Have a thankful heart.   from http://traciemiles.com/why-im-thankful/

What matters most is having a relationship with Jesus
Matthew 11:28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Thankful it is FRIDAY!!!

This week I have some quotes and Bible verses to share:

Thanksgiving Day approaches we remember the words of Spurgeon:“Carry your desires to the Lord of your life, the guardian of your soul. Go to Him with two portions of prayer and one of fragrant praise. Do not pray doubtfully but thankfully. Consider that you have your petitions, and therefore thank God for His grace. He is giving you grace; give Him thanks, Hide nothing. Allow no want to lie rankling in your bosom; “make known your requests.” Run not to man. Go only to your God, the Father of Jesus, who loves you in Him. This shall bring you God’s own peace. You shall not be able to understand the peace which you shall enjoy. It will enfold you in its infinite embrace. Heart and mind through Christ Jesus shall be steeped in a sea of rest. Come life or death, poverty, pain, slander, you shall dwell in Jesus above every rolling wind or darkening cloud. Will you not obey this dear command? Yes, Lord, I do believe thee; but, I beseech thee, help mine unbelief.”
(taken from http://www.goodmorninggirls.org)
Philippians:4-8 says to do these things:
1.) Rejoice in the Lord always.
2.) Be gentle and have a calm spirit.
3.) Remember the Lord is near.
4.) Do not worry – about anything!
5.) Pray –about everything!
6.) When we pray – pray with a heart of thanksgiving.
7.)  Control our thoughts – think holy thoughts.
And then we will receive the promise of verse 9:
“And the God of peace will be with you.”
“Just think, you’re here not by chance, but by God’s choosing. His hand formed you and made you the person you are. He compares you to no one else, you are one-of-a-kind. You lack nothing that His grace can’t give you. He has allowed you to be here at this time in history to fulfill His special purpose for this generation.” -Roy Lessin
Psalm 139:14  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

"Motherhood is a mission field! It is a “full time ministry.” Yes! Every morning when your feet touch the floor, you’re on the mission field! We may have to sacrifice involvement in certain interests, and the amount of time we are able to use our gifting for a very short season, to embrace the high calling of the ministry of motherhood." Be encouraged! It is all being used to conform us, and our children, to the image of Christ, and will be used to point others to Him. It will prepare you to be most effective in the seasons ahead! http://www.themobsociety.com/2013/11/15/comes-first/

Yay it's Friday!!

We have had a busy week, with preschool, teaching yoga, eye and ear appointments for the kids. However, we did manage to squeeze in some time for lunch with a friend that I don't see much face to face. Tomorrow, we will get together with another dear friend of mine to say our good-bye's as they venture off to begin a new adventure in their move to South Carolina.

So many people posting there thanks and I love reading them, there inspiring and encouraging. As I stated before, I have been doing this for sometime in my journal since reading 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp. It really does help you see the world differently and give you a new perspective, a God-perspective. She has a powerful message this week and it is a must read.  http://www.aholyexperience.com/2013/11/how-to-put-one-foot-in-front-of-the-other/

1Thessalonians 5:18~ Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. My two little's can sometimes challenge me, but thankful we are all learning and growing together in this journey of life. I hope they know I would do anything for them, I pray for them everyday! Life has thrown some lemons at me and some have been very sour, but those circumstances have made me who I am today. I am truly thankful and blessed, I have all I need! So thankful for a God that loves me and my faith. I am so thankful for a husband who works crazy long unpredictable hours to provide for our family and on top of that is an awesome husband and father! Thankful for my two beautiful children who have sweet tender hearts and bring so much joy into our lives! Thankful for Abigail's eye doctor Dr. Bryson he has has been so great with helping improve Abigail's eye sight. Thankful Aidan doesn't have to go back to the ENT doctor, his ear is fine! Thankful for my church family who love and encourage us. Thankful for family and friends both far and near. Thankful for our mom ministry Mom's Connect, love seeing God work on our hearts, bringing connections, and support.Thankful that God speaks to my heart, most the time it is through the Bible, but he also uses people in my life and through blogs to speak to me. Every week I like to reflect and share things that have spoke to me. Here are a few of them, please share anything that spoke to you and share through the comment section.

Being a mom can be messy some days, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! It is the best calling God has given me! "Sure, motherhood is messy, but the outcome is a beautiful piece of artwork. We can mother in creative ways and we can learn to turn life into art. But creating art leaves a mess behind. That’s just the way of it. And poetry doesn’t always make sense at first glance. But as our lives unfold, we begin to understand the words are woven together how God wanted them to be, all for His glory.
Motherhood doesn’t always look exactly the same from mother to mother. God has gifted us with the ability to create in different ways; to mother in different ways, while still keeping that running thread of biblical motherhood."~see more at http://www.thebettermom.com/2013/11/08/motherhood-is-art-2/

"We all have our own things—our talents, interests, commitments, priorities. Yours aren’t better than mine, and mine aren’t better than yours. They’re just different.
Why? Because God is fantastically creative, and he gave us each a unique blend of gifts. Trying to do it all is a waste of time. It’s like saying God got it wrong. On the flip side, doing what he created us to do—that’s worship."
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone,” (1 Corinthians 12:4–6, ESV).

Thinking of my Grandpa's on Veteran's Day!!

I grew up with two amazing grandfather's both who have served there time in wars/military. My Grandpa Wobschall is still alive and kicking and I mean it, he is a go getter! He is a man of God and a hard worker. He is now enjoying the retirement life and I do wish I could see him more often.

My other, Grandpa Waite, left this earth too soon, but I know someday I will see him again. I have many wonderful memories with him, spending weekends being grandpa's little girl, staying at his camper on weekends with him and won't forget the summer trip we took to Pennsylvania to visit relatives when I was around 10 years old.

I am thankful for all the men and women who have or are serving our country! But I am especially proud of my grandpa's! I have this clipping from the Parade magazine dated March 1, 1953. It is my grandpa telling about serving with John Eisenhower, President Eisenhower's son. It is a great little piece of history I have!

Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.~John 15:13

The holidays are upon us!!

Last week I put up our Thanksgiving tree and prepared out Thanksgiving coutdown. Today I put up our Christmas tree, call me crazy or maybe I was just bored, but that is hard to be with two little kids and something always needing cleaning or picking up. I think it was the fact that really I am just over Halloween and my littlest thinks every time he see's a pumpkin it is for Halloween. Last night we also talked about Christmas lights and the kids got so excited, so maybe that was another reason. Anyhow it doesn't matter I have my tree up before Thanksgiving and this year we have a big tree!! Thanks to my parents and I just love it!! We had fun putting it together and decorating it! The kids are just so excited and love looking at it!
 Our Thanksgiving tree!

                                                                  This year's Christmas Tree!!

We are excited for Christmas and I am looking forward to putting our Jesse Tree Ornaments on the tree while we do our Christmas count-down. We did the Jesse Tree last year for the first time and the kids enjoyed it. I have MOPS to thanks for the ornaments as we did it as a project last year and also a friend of mine who shared it as one of her traditions. I love how it shares God's promises and how He fulfilled His perfect plan for the Messiah.

Psalm 95:1-6
"O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker."

It's November and Friday!!

October flew by and now we are upon two of my favorite holidays of the year, Thanksgiving and Christmas!! I love the month of November, seeing people post what they are thankful for daily. This is something I learned to do a couple years ago after reading Ann Voskamps book 1000 Gifts, if you haven't read it, it is a must! Everyday I either write or thank God for the things He has blessed me with. When you look at your blessings, especially if you have a bad moment or day, you will find joy in those blessings no matter your circumstances. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 The Message~ Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.

This last week God has been teaching me about patience and grace. We found out last week my son ruptured his ear drum, so he has been whiny and not acting himself, but thankful for he medications that are helping him through it. He is back to acting himself, which hopefully means his ear drum is healing on its own. We see an ENT doc next week, so please be in prayer for him. Also due to the time zone which they say you will get an extra hour of sleep, ha! I think I have lost 5 hours of sleep due to it, my son is wanting to get up at 5am! I have been trying to get him back to bed, some days it works others not so much. So I am thankful for the strength and patience God gives me to get through those long days. Plus coffee!! 2 Corinthians 12:9~But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Earlier this year I set out time in my Bible to study and read through Proverbs 31, I know it can be intimidating when first reading it. It has helped me understand what a woman of God looks like and well most days I am not far from it, though some days I am. I am not perfect, God doesn't expect us to be perfect. He just wants our hearts fully! Hope this encourages you.. http://ordinaryinspirations.blogspot.com/2012/09/practical-ways-you-can-become-proverbs.html

This is for my daughter and all the girls out there! I pray she never feels belittled, judge, compares herself to someone else and knows not to listen to satan when he places lies in her head. She is beautiful and fearfully made!!
Psalm 139:14-16 The Message~
Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
    I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
    you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.

Measuring sticks try to rank some people as big and some people as small — but we aren’t sizes. We are souls.  There are no better people or worse people — there are only God-made souls. There is no point trying to size people up, no point trying to compare – because souls defy measuring. See more at: http://www.aholyexperience.com/2013/11/how-the-hidden-dangers-of-comparison-are-killing-us-and-our-daughters-the-measuring-stick-principle/

So I was at the dentist office the other day and was just sitting there relaxing and somewhat observing. I noticed everyone in the waiting room was looking down at there phones, I got kind of sad thinking about it. You don't just see this in a waiting room, but I have seen it out about in other places. Now I have been guilty too of doing this, so no need to feel guilty if you are reading this, I think we have all been there. I am becoming more aware of these phones and how they are taking away precious moments in our lives. The future generation isn't going to know how to communicate verbally. We need to communicate verbally, or we will loose feelings and physical connections. So today I am putting a stop, now it may take a 30-day step like program, but I am going to do my best. Just a disclaimer I am not getting rid of my phone I do need it to communicate with my hubby who works long away hours from home, long-distance family and friends, and also for those time I need to chat with live person, and sometimes I can't chat so I text, because my children think when mommy is on the phone it is time to want something or act crazy, we are working on that though. This blog was convicting, read it if you dare...http://www.momsmustardseeds.com/2013/11/face-time-cell-phone/

Keep your eyes on JESUS so not to let satan distract you and use your weakness. Instead glofiy God in your weaknesses! "Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!." Hebrews 12:1-3 (The Message)

Creed Review

This is the first time I have read a memoir. It is interesting reading a book about a band I use to listen to when I was much younger, many years ago. I haven’t listened to his music in years and kind of forgot about him until I received the opportunity to review Scott Stapp’s book-Sinner’s Creed and new CD Proof of Life.  Not the typical book I would read but I do like his music and always great to hear about someone overcoming addiction, his personal struggles,  and how he turned around his life because of God and his family’s love. You can hear his life come out in his music, which is something that I saw while reading this book. Also see lots of grace here and that is what God gives each of us.  You can feel the pain and struggles he had. Towards the end you can see the glory of God in that.
“I saw “The Great Divide” as a fervent prayer. It was my attempt to reunite with the Holy Spirit, the feeling part of my relationship with God, I sang” You have loved me when I was weak, You have given unselfishly, Kept me from falling, falling, Everywhere but my knees.”

“The only way I could make it was by God’s grace, one step at a time, one day at a time.”

“The story of my life is profoundly unclear. It is a rock-and-story and, at the same time, a story of my walk with Christ. The two are melded together in ways both unpredictable and unsure.”
This book is for anyone who has listened to Creed, is a fan, or wants to read a story about an over-comer this is an excellent book!

From the publishers: Scott Stapp, frontman for Grammy-winning CREED, is releasing his memoir, Sinner's Creed, in softcover next month. In the book, he shares about his fundamentalist upbringing, the rise of Creed, his ongoing battle with addiction, his fall from fame, the rediscovery of his faith and the launch of his solo career. Next month Stapp will also be releasing a new solo album, Proof of Life. Proof of Life reaffirms the realizations and the stories in the book and puts them to music in an emotional journey.

"This is the most meaningful record of my career," said Stapp. "I've made a lot of messes in my life, but I've learned I can take a mess and turn it into a message. This album chronicles my struggles, my journey and it's the most honest record I have ever written. The fans have always meant everything to me and over the years they've come to me and told me how through my music they've gotten through the worst of times, and that hit me. With this album, it's the first time that when I listened back to the tracks, it became a cathartic experience for me."

Stapp along with Creed has sold over 30 million albums, had three Grammy nominations and one win for Best Rock Song with "With Arms Wide Open."

Friday Encouragement, Can you believe it's November!

Happy first day of November!! I can't believe it, but I do love the holiday season! So much to be thankful for and our Savior's birthday!

Do you have a mission? Companies have missions, but us moms need missions for our homes. I love Sally Clarkson's mission: "To build a home of ideals means a life of sacrifice. It means a lot of work, and it’s never going to be over. These ideals don’t come easily to anyone; they come through battle. It’s an illusion to think that building a place of beauty ever happens naturally to anyone; it happens little by little … through hard work … when we cultivate our souls, our kids will have something to draw from .. the house with the life of God isn’t a perfect house, it’s a redeemed house! It’s not a home without sin, or without messes or without spilled milk, but we redeem one more moment, in the joy of living with Him, and that moment becomes a memory, an unspoken message that lasts for life…" Mission of Motherhood

What us moms should be doing for one another. “She needs your encouragement right now. Go ahead and put your hand on her shoulder and tell her she’s a great mom.” - See more at:http://www.itakejoy.com/good-job-mama/

Do you ever struggle with days like this? "Sometime I feel like I am emotionally/spiritually bipolar. One day I am super motivated and roaring to go, but the next day I am overwhelmed and discouraged. I can be full of energy in the morning and by lunch time I am defeated and ready to throw in the towel. Sometimes I can go from high to low in, what feels like, minutes." -See more at:http://jenthorn.com/blog/2013/10/27/running
Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Isaiah 40:28-29

November is a great month to focus on being thankful everyday, if you are not already doing that. These posts are great for focusing on how to be thankful:
