Last Friday of June!

Wow, June has gone by fast!! This week has been spent unpacking from vacation and getting back into the swing of things, all while enjoying time with Ryan's mom and step-dad. There visit was perfect timing, I was able to get away to get my hair done and out to lunch with my friend Laura and do some shopping for our homeschool room, while the kiddo's enjoyed some grandparent time! We all enjoyed a family night out for supper at Mama D's!

Last night was medal night at t-ball, Aidan loved it, he wanted to sleep with it.

Also this week, since coming back from vacation, I want to learn how to rest and enjoy every moment like I did on vacation while we were at the beach. So I know that I have to learn to say no to things and that certain things do not have to be done right away and can wait till later. Though the perfectionist type A personality in me struggles with just letting things I see that need to be done just sit there. But I know what I need to do, and that is keeping my focus on Jesus and what He wants me to do and let Him lead my day, so I can enjoy those everyday little moments!

While I was on vacation I read half way though the book The Well Trained Mind, a great book for anyone that is homeschooling or planning on it. I also read Hands Free Mama, this book is a must if you struggle with perfectionism, distractions or wanting to let go of things to fully live!! Which is exactly what I am learning to do! I love life and want to make sure I treasure all the moments, even the simple mundane everyday moments, yes that includes dishes! So let's seize the moments at hand!

Here are some of my favorite readings this week:

Who or What you love most rules you and determines what you'll chase.

Chances are, God is not asking you to give up everything you own. He’s just asking you to give up what OWN’S YOU. At the end of your life will your words be …“Greatest mistake I ever made.” or … “I have no Spiritual Regrets?

I want to change this. I want to learn to rest. I want to see rest as a priority and not a luxury. I want to slow down and let things be imperfect so they can be more better. I want to rest before I am overextended.

Family Vacation!!

We went on our first family vacation!! Now we have made many trips together, to visit family, but this was first time we went someplace that didn't involve visiting family. Don't worry we still love y'all but were long over due for some family fun and adventure! Though we have had many with all the moves and travels. But we were missing the beach and that is one of the best places to go to relax, right! So we chose to go to Orange Beach!! It was beautiful and an amazing time! We enjoyed people watching (really you do see some interesting things on the beach and there are interesting conversations that happen at the pool), playing in the pool and ocean, collecting seashells, playing in the sand, exploring new places to eat and shop, saw some dolphins, went mini golfing, road go-carts and slept in, well not really that was my dream, we were still up around 6am Aidan time! But we did stay up late, though probably shouldn't have, but we did all enjoy nap time. After spending a few hours each morning playing in the sand and water we would come in eat lunch and then nap. I may have to make that a regular thing for all of us!!

Here are a few snapshots of our adventure:

It's OK to be foolish for Jesus!!

It’s OK to be foolish for Jesus! What I mean by that is, step out, be courageous and confident. God made us to be courageous and confident through Him. Jesus prayed often to God. So whatever you hear the Lord speaking to you, press in to Him and then move forward, step by step He is there with you. When you are not sure, ask God to show you, but you also have to be willing to have faith and step out. Don’t hold back. Don’t become anxious, move forward trust HIM! God doesn’t call us to know it all; He calls us to have faith! So operate on faith!

God has given us believers a future and we can trust in that! We have boundless amounts of joy and hope in Christ. So trust Him!
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

TGIF, Right!

This week has been full of blessings and one not so much and I know there are many out there struggling with loss or going through a hard time. Hearing about the loss of a friend who battled cancer for a very short time, was hard for me to hear, but I know that she is dancing pain free with our Lord. She blessed many hearts of all ages!!

Must keep the faith, not lose hope, because for those of us believers, there awaits us so much more, everlasting rejoicing!!

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our inner strength in the Lord is growing every day. These troubles and sufferings of ours are, after all, quite small and won’t last very long. Yet this short time of distress will result in God’s richest blessing upon us forever and ever! So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.

Romans 8:18 ~Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later.

Let's count our blessings and give thanks for it all!!
Here is a little snippet of our week:  Today is the last day of swim lessons! Abigail has learned so much and loves swimming, Adian not so much. He likes to get in and out, and well lay out and watch cars go by. Abigail had her first gymnastics practice for the summer program. She took a year off, after breaking her collar bone and well she loves being back! Have to take some pics next time. Aidan played tball last night, he has one more game left for the season. Wednesday night I hosted our Wednesday night church class, we had a salad and dessert potluck, it was delish, plus great company of ladies. Love my church family!! Always a blessing to watch my kids enjoy doing things and spending time with my church family!
Abigail went to a friends birthday party this week and I thought this was the cutest game!

 My little slugger!!!

 Abigail swimming with board.

 Aidan trying out the board.

What Aidan prefers to do,lay out and watch cars! Who can blame him, so much more relaxing!!

A few blogs posts from this week I read:
Yes this!!! "You’ve arrived at wealth when you’re happy with a life that has a wealth of things that money can’t buy. ~ Don’t ever confuse these two things: how you make a living and how you make a life.~ Don’t ever forget the words I read in an old dad’s writing once: “If you win the rat race, you’re still a rat.”

"What I really want is a spiritual GPS that I take with me every day that will tell me where to go."

"When we trust in God and have faith in His timing, He makes the way possible where it once seemed impossible. When we step out of our comfort zone and have nothing to rely on but His grace, it’s exactly where He wants us."

Relationship with God

We can’t become more like God unless we know who God is. When we know our Lord and believe, we have access to receive His wisdom, hope that came from Jesus, His power. The more I know HIM the more I can be like Him through the wisdom, hope and assurance we have from Him and it is my hearts desire to know Him and want to be like Him to show His light in me.

What a week!!

This week has been busy with children activities, cleaning, family fun, painting, and research!

This kids started swim lessons this week and Aidan had a couple t-ball games also. They hubby spent some time on the golf course with our neighbor. Abigail and I had mommy daughter pedi's. I painted pottery with a friend this week. Oh and the hubby and I had two date nights this week! Movie night and garage cleaning party, after the kids went to bed! Some of you may not think those are date nights, but when we have time to ourselves without the kids it is!

Oh and yes, research, after much prayer and discussion, our family has decided to homeschool. I can share with you the many reasons why, but will save that for another time. However, feel free to ask. This week I spent a couple hours with a friend that home schools and received some helpful information, that helped put me at ease! I also asked a couple other friends some questions and those ladies started a homeschool group for our town as we didn't have one, however there is a group in Murray and Paducah. Would you believe in two days there were 23 home school moms that joined and it is still growing and that is just our area. I know a few homschool moms in the two towns around us, plus a few railroad moms that homeschool and friends from when I lived in Texas. We have started turning the toy room into part of a homeschool room and I have started researching curriculum. There are so many! Right now it will just be Abigail and Aidan will join in when he wants. He will continue going to preschool, as we love our preschool! So right now I am determining which curriculum would be best for us. I feel Abigail is between kindergarten and first grade level. I have three that I really like. Christian Light, Classical (from Well-Trained Mind & Peace Hill), Classical Teacher from Memoria Press and also just started looking into My Father's World and A Beka, so I guess you could say five. So if anyone has used any of these or has any input, love to hear any and all feedback, good and bad.

Here are some pictures of our week:

Here are some inspiring blog posts from some of my favorite bloggers worth passing along:

This is radical living my friends.  You don’t have to go away to be radical but you DO have to do something!

The jewel of kindness, the soft and hard side…

Needed this! Yes so true, when we go to the Lord and trust in Him completely, He will give us the peace we need and assurance that He has it! He has gone before us! So be confident, don't worry, and never take your eyes of the One who has given us life and blessed us!

1 Corinthians 2:9–10 says, However, as it is written, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him,’ but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
If you give Him your mind, He’ll blow your mind. He will never cease to astound you. As much capacity for brilliance as you have, when the Spirit of the Living God gets ahold of you, He will do more than your eyes have seen, more than your ears have ever heard, and more than your mind could ever make up. That is what God has prepared for those who love Him with all of their hearts and all of their souls and all of their minds. giving God your mind and letting Him renew it
