Happy Halloween and It's FRIDAY!!!

We have been enjoying the beautiful fall days and some Halloween fun this week!! Sunday night at AWANA the kids dressed up in their costumes and participated in fellowship and fun at church. I went with Aidan to his preschool party at school. We had a lot of fun playing games and he participated in his first candy run, he loved it!! Thursday night we attended Haunted House of Hoops, well it's not really haunted house, but the high school cheerleaders and basketball players put on a fun event for kids with games and treats. This is our 3rd year attending it and it is a nice fun indoor event. I don't like being out much after dark and we don't do regular trick or treating. So the kids get in some fun, a bunch of candy and dress up which they enjoy doing. Tonight we will opt to stay in and enjoy family night and some of the treats the kids have been collecting this week. Today we are having friends over for "Halloween/Fall lunch" to celebrate the end of the week and last day of October!! I adore this mama she is not only a dear friend but my homeschool mentor and our kids always have a blast together! Whether you celebrate Halloween or not, let your light shine in all you do!

Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

We had a great week at Raising Arrows Academy!! Abigail had a great week learning about birds, insects and amphibians in science, she rocks at spelling and math, and we enjoyed reading about missionaries from around the world. Now before you think homeschooling is all fun and rosy, there are moments and I am sure there will be future moments ahead, but it is what we have been called to do, perfect for our family, and I feel best for our children. What I love about it is sitting along side my children and seeing them learn new things. I see so many benefits to homeschooling and I get to use my administrative/organizational skills.

Personally I have been enjoying some time reading when I can, so many good books right now! Taking some time out with friends, as I have missed it, just didn't realize it, because I have been feeling overwhelmed. I have learned that being around groups of people drain me (it is the introvert in me), but just getting together for coffee or helping a friend move while we get to talk fills my heart and spirit! God has really been speaking to me about ministering to others as we do day to day life and doing it as a family together. Right now been hard to do that with all that I have on my plate and it was something I really enjoyed doing before. So I know I need to make some best yeses and best no's in order to make room to do those things (yes I am reading Lysa Terkeurst's book The Best Yes).

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, and come with him into the presence of God the Father to give him your thanks.

I have been struggling with something that I have been doing, something that is a good thing, a really good thing, but yet right now I personally don't have the time it takes to do it well and I have lost my passion for it and I am not sure why, I have been asking God to give me my passion back for it, so it has been a struggle while I wait to see what happens next. I am thinking a door may be closing while another door opens. I am studying about seasons while studying Esther in the Bible. There are seasons of life, just as there are seasons on earth. A time such as this!

Here are a few pictures of Aidan at his preschool party and Abigail and Aidan before they went to AWANA!! Also a couple snapshots of us enjoying a beautiful fall day collecting acorns in the back yard.

Here are some great reads worth sharing from this week:

Because of Jesus, I don't need to prove myself anymore. Jesus is enough. His grace alone is sufficient. When God looks at me, He sees His Son. He sees that I am His and He is mine. The more I grasp this truth, the more I'm changed. http://proverbs31.org/devotions/devo/the-slavery-of-striving/

Persecution helps us to remember that http://joyfilleddays.com/persecution-how-it-helps-us/

Take a deep breath, rest, and relax in the midst of your homeschooling today. Just as Matthew 6:30 reminds us of God’s great care for the wildflowers, remember that He has beautiful plans for you and your sweet children. Don’t become so busy with your work that you miss opportunities for God to work. http://www.sallyclarkson.com/making-room-for-god-in-your-homeschooling/

God is shaping me into the exact mother he wants me to be for my children http://www.thebettermom.com/2014/10/26/typecast-mommy/

But when we practice embracing the season we’re in, we allow for the work that needs to be done, now. To find the lessons we need to learn, first. To savor the life to be lived, while we wait. We will never come this way again. We will never get this season back. Happy or sad or confused or mad, embrace it! Lean into it and let it teach. http://www.graceuncommon.com/embracing-the-season-youre-in/

Rhinestone Cowboy with give-away

I am excited about seeing this movie for so many reasons. I grew up hearing and rembember his music, plus what an inspiration he is in bringing awareness to alzheimer's and I heart me some country music!! There is a give-away for one of my lucky readers. All you need to do is comment and let me know you like to win some free music!!
The Rhinestone Cowboy...
Glen Campbell’s musical and entertainment career, covering nearly five decades, is unmatched for its prolific breadth, popular appeal – and flat-out musical accomplishment and achievement. His guitar playing is legendary and can be heard on classic tracks from Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds, to Frank Sinatra’s, Strangers in the Night.

As a solo artist, Glen has recorded some of the most beloved songs of his generation including Gentle On My Mind, Galveston and Rhinestone Cowboy
He has been awarded five Grammy Awards and three Grammy Hall of Fame honors, seven Academy of Country Music awards, a Pioneer Award recognition, three American Music Awards, two Country Music Association Awards and three Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.
He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Glen Campbell has crossed the boundary between pop and country and transcended into a true musical icon.

In 2011, Glen was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and with the help of his wife and family decided to face the illness head on. He announced publicly about his battle with Alzheimer’s and then released his album Ghost on the Canvas and began his “Goodbye Tour.”
On Feb 12, 2012 Glen performed on the Grammy Awards, to an audience of 39 million people, and was given the distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award.

As music legend Glen Campbell enters the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease, his family is giving the world a rare glimpse inside his battle with the disease.

From the producer of 'Walk the Line'..

In 2011, when Glen Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he joined forces with his family to fight the biggest battle of his life. Glen and his wife, Kim, made history by going public with the diagnosis – the first time a major American celebrity would share this experience with the world. The Campbell family then embarked on a short “Goodbye Tour,” but the three-week engagement turned into an emotional and triumphant 151-show nationwide tour de force.

This epic human drama about the undying bond between Glen and Kim, and their unwavering caring for each other, chronicles a story of love, resilience and the power of song.

GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE ME is the true tale of how America’s greatest country star would not give up his music or his family, against all odds.

The film features those who know and love Glen, including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge, Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith and Taylor Swift among many others. Rare vintage footage and extraordinary new performances of Glen’s most beloved hits immerse this moving cinematic account in the overwhelming talent of this humble family man. With joy and a tireless sense of humor, Glen and his family live each moment in the present while preparing for the future, all while playing their music to sold out venues on a star spangled voyage spanning the country from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl.

One reader will receive...5 song EP soundtrack from the film ~ Soundtrack features Glen Campbell, Ashley Campbell, and The Band Perry. (be sure to comment before 10/31/14)

FRIDAY is here!!!

Been a busy week, but full of blessings. My heart is full and I am tired, but thankful! I have my hubs back home, we have full bellies, we are healthy, have a warm home, wonderful family and friends, we are blessed in abundance!!Yes I do get weary and my heart aches for people and friends and sometimes the things that life throws at us, but when I keep my focus on Jesus and the blessings I have, I couldn't be more blessed.

Last weekend we met up with some friends at the pumpkin patch and went out to eat for some sushi with another wonderful couple. Abigail and I also participated in the walk for Apraxia for one of our precious little friends from church. The kids participated in crazy hair night at AWANA, while the hubs and I went out for dinner, sometimes parents need time away from the children. Monday we started back to school after a little fall break, the hubs smoked some meat and we had guests over for dinner, Tuesday was our MOM Group and Aidan's last t-ball game for the season, Wednesday Abigail had horse lessons and we spent time with our church family, today is Friday movie night with my kiddo's! This weekend we have a birthday party to go and the kids are excited to dress up in their costumes for AWANA Fall fun!

This week we also shopped for our Operation Shoebox items and put them together. Something Abigail has been doing for a few years, we enjoy picking out items and making a card to ship in our box. I love the ministry and how a shoebox full of items can make a difference in a child's life. If you haven't heard about Operation Christmas Child check out the ministry here:  http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/

Wizzy Gizmo ~ Fast Track Bible Pack

I recently received a set of cards, called Fast Track Bible Pack for the New Testament by Wizzy Gizmo. Personally I find the name kind of cute!

The Bible Track consists of 27 medium-sized cards that summarize each book of the Bible and share key chapters, passages, doctrines, and people. They are double sided, colorful, sturdy, and of excellent quality. They measure 8 x 5" and are made of heavy, glossy cardstock. Each card tells how many chapters are in the book, details about the author (or possible author), and a timeline for when the book may have been written. If an author is unknown, the cards give a brief description of possible authors and why it is thought they could be the author.

Wizzy Gizmo Review
These can be used for all ages, right now we are incorporating them into part of homeschool or when they bring a verse home from AWANA, we will look it up and read also about what that book in the Bible is about. Their web-site gives some useful ideas on how to use them. https://www.wizzygizmo.com/shop/fast-track-bible-pack/ The only thing I wish is that these would have been bound together or had a ring clip to keep them together. Other then that they are perfect and very useful! The kids love, might have a little to also to do that there is a pic of train, and my hubby happens to be a train engineer! :)

This series strives to accurately and completely represent the narratives found in scripture as well as impart the foundational evangelical doctrines of God's Word. We believe the Bible is, "Profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness," and therefore seek to fill the hearts and minds of our children with its truth.

Here are some snapshots of the cards:

This set costs only $14.99.  Wizzy Gizmo has other great products to offer.

For your chance to win a free set, please comment and share your favorite Bible verse. Winner will be announced October 11, 2014.

*"I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR,Part 255. Tired days, GOD is GREATER...

There are days when I am tired and weary, but my GOD is GREATER!! Days like these I need to remember to rest in the Lord, lean on the Lord, trust in the Lord always. His plans are GREATER, His ways are HIGHER!! Proverbs 16:9 We can make our plans,  but the Lord determines our steps. Keep my eyes focused on the ONE!! JESUS!!

Romans 8:26-28  “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
