Last Friday of January~Wow

We finished week 22 of school this week. Been enjoying reading Little House In The Big Woods and finished up our Bible lesson on JOY!! This week we had some fun in science! We have been learning about inventions and the important work scientist do.We attended Literature Club this week with our homeschool groups. Little man joined us too, we had a fun time listening to stories about winter, making snowflakes and playing bingo! No horse lessons this week, with the weather, and our schedule this week it didn't work out. However, the hubby taught art class this week, which is so much more is specialty than I. They had a lot of fun!

Tomorrow I am looking forward to MNO (mom night out) with our mom group! I don't get out much with friends due to season I am in, so this is much over do and I am sure will be lots of fun!!!

I have been listening to that voice in my heart and it really has blessed me this week! I am a recovering perfectionist, who tends to listen to her head more than I should, instead of that voice inside my heart, which is of God. What I am learning is that when I listen to my heart and obey I am blessed and am able to love and bless others. God doesn't expect us to be perfect, He just wants us to love, that is His greatest commandment. This is why Jesus came to earth to show us love, grace and mercy. God knew we couldn't do it on our own and that is why we need a savior. Don't worry if you have a messy past or that you may mess up again, no one is perfect, Jesus has us covered, just listen to your heart and love!!
This song sums it up, Come To The Water

Snapshots from the week:

Our dog takes up most of the couch, but we all still managed to fit.

Working on a puzzle together.

Encouraging reads:
This is my beautiful mess.

I think this was wrote for me… Our weakness is the very thing God wants to use to show His love in powerful ways to someone else. It’s risky to be vulnerable, but do it anyway!

"I think so many are worried about what they need to do to get into heaven, what they don’t realize it is just one thing, one person, one acceptance with an open heart." Jesus+nothing ~ What will get me into Heaven?

Yes I am pro-marriage, even though I have divorced. This was an interesting read

As mothers and wives, it is absolutely crucial that we learn to breathe, relax, and focus and center ourselves on what should be prioritized.

Grace is sufficient, grace is amazing, and grace is for everyone imperfect

TEAM US review and give-away!

I recently received a book titled, Team Us Marriage Together written by Ashleigh Slater, with side comments by her husband, so you can get the guy's point of view in their story.

This is a quick read book, that would be perfect to read together with your spouse or soon to be spouse or individually, as you would still get a lot from the book. I have been married for 10 years so this book didn't offer anything real new for me, however it is very encouraging read. It would have been great to hear the message they share in the book when I first started out in my marriage. My husband and I have had the team concept down for a few years now, and that really makes a different in your marriage when you view yourself as a team, verses just two individuals in a marriage. I see this as a main reason for divorce today. No one is perfect, we all need to give grace in situations and work together as a team. I would recommend this book to all young couples who planning or recently married to get this book. At the end of each chapter is a section called Us Time, which offers some questions to discuss with your spouse.

Here are some points from the book:
"It's about marriage together. Marriage as a team with both husband and wife working and playing toward a winning season."

"Grace helps marriage stay on that heavenward "until death do us part" course."

"Assume the best of the others' motives and actions."

"Practice makes progress." ~not perfect

"As important as finances are, marriage comes first."

"Yep, marriage requires hard work. It takes perseverance and patience. It means teamwork and a "never give up" attitude."

I am able to give one book away to one of my readers. If you would like you very own copy of this book, be sure to comment for your chance to win one by February 1, 2015!!

About the book:
176 pages / Forward by Dr. Gary Chapman (author of 5 Love Languages)
What are you agreeing to when you say “I do”? When a couple promises “I do,” they agree to more than just a shared last name, a joint bank account, and no more dateless nights. This husband and wife duo forms a new team. “Life together” becomes their mantra. Nothing can come between them. At least, that’s the plan. But then real life sets in. With it come disappointments and frustrations. If the couple isn’t intentional in their day-to-day interactions, that once enthusiastic “we” can slowly revert to “you” and “me.” Before long, the couple’s left wondering what happened to their team spirit.
Team Us: Marriage Together offers couples practical ways to cultivate and strengthen unity in their marriages. Author Ashleigh Slater shares from her own marriage as she presents couples with realistic ideas on how to foster cooperation, deepen commitment, and exercise grace on a daily basis.
“Finishing your marriage story well is definitely within your reach, no matter what your history tells you.”

Friday Update and Encouragement

My heart has been heavy this week and my mind crazy, that is my fault as I take on too much sometimes, OK a lot of times. Still working on that best yes and overcoming perfectionism. My aunt died this week unexpectedly and it sucks to live thousands of miles from family sometimes. This is life, it is always changing, and this world we live in can be full of darkness, but I do my best not to get sucked into it. I am thankful for Jesus who overcame the darkness for us so we can live in JOY and be shining light of Him. God is always good, and will use these situations for good. All I need to do is trust and have faith, which can be hard sometimes to let go off, with my I can do it all attitude! God is the only one who has it all under-control, none of us do, He has gone before us. Which really brings me peace, because I can rest in that. This week was MOM Group and we had a some things come up where one would think it would end in disaster, but God has shown me again and again, that He always provides the needs, so for once I didn't panic! Hallelujah!! Our MOM Group had a blessed time of encouragement from one another, because sometimes the journey is rough, and that is why we need each other!! Matthew 18:20 Jesus said "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."

I am just a couple days away from completing 30 Day Shred workout with the lovely Jillian Michaels, she is tough and yes that is my sarcasm, because I love doing it, not really, just thankful I can! It hasn't been easy staying on track with it, some days I love to just do something easy, however this workout gets my heart rate up and builds strength, which I didn't realize I was lacking so much of but I was, now pushups and squats are not so challenging anymore. So yes, it does pay off!!  My tip, don't give up, make a new habit, be dedicated, find your why for doing it and you too can do it!! Also find something you like to do for exercise, I really don't like the workout, but it is only 20 minutes!

This week we finished week 21 of school, science has been interesting as we have been learning about the body, how it works, and the senses. We also have been reading some great books: Twenty and Ten, Johnny Appleseed, Little House, and Chance of Meatballs. Spelling words are getting tougher, but she likes the challenge. Since the weather was so beautiful this week, Abigail got back to horse lessons. She has so much more confidence on the horse now! We are looking into adding in piano lessons soon!

We also decided to put up our Valentine's tree! I love Valentine's one of my favorite holidays, because I love what it represents, LOVE!!  1 John 4:19 We love each other because He loved us first.

Here are some snapshots of the week:
Art project using shapes we see, she used the neighbors house.

Horse lessons

Flowers from neighbors, so thoughtful! Great example of love your neighbor, y'all!! :)

Our Valentine tree!

Weekly encouragement, be sure to check out the links, good reads....

Without perspective our lives can start running us.

To dance, sing, laugh uncontrollably, to love deeply, to drink from the pleasure of life He has allowed, even in the midst of the fallen places-this is to know Him and His presence every day.

"[Jesus] was busy, but never in a way that made Him frantic, anxious, irritable, proud, envious, or distracted by lesser things... Jesus knew the difference between urgent and important. He understood that all the good things He could do were not necessarily the things He ought to do."

Are you living a life of purpose? Or are you floundering, about to sink? Most likely you're somewhere in between.

With Jesus, we’re already and always Wonder Women {although I think I’ll swap the superhero suit for yoga pants — you too?}.
