I survived!!

Oh my some weeks are like that! This week we finished our kitchen remodel, yay!! Funny how you plan it out and then something happens to put a glitch in the process, but hey life lessons are learned during those times, right! Thankfully this was just a minor one, and not major this time! You think by now I would learn that nothing usually goes according to plan. Yes God I hear you!! He has a funny way of talking to me sometimes. Really I am thankful we were able to do our kitchen remodel, it is nothing fancy, but it is more updated. Thankful for handy DIY husband, he saves us lots of money.

The last few weeks of schooling have been tough, not for the student, but for me, staying disciplined, when it is a beautiful day outside, keeping focused when there are many distractions, but we finished the week! Now only three weeks left and these three weeks are going to be busy, lots of year end school activities for my boy who attends preschool and he starts T-ball. All the work I did during spring break to clean and organize my house, well it has suffered greatly this last week due to the remodel and no time to tend to it, so I may need to take time to tend to the house. I can not be surrounded by clutter or messes, it just doesn't work for me, too distracting. I need to remember even though we have three weeks it may end up being four weeks because we may have to take off an extra couple days here an there, but hey one of the perks of homeschooling. Flexibility is hard for me sometimes, because I tend to like to stay the course and keep focused, but when I do that I may be missing out some opportunities, some God moments. So I am learning to live with HIS awareness and it is a struggle most days, but hey that is OK there is grace! I am a work in progress just like anyone else, not one of us perfect!

Loved this quote I came across:

“Restlessness and impatience change nothing except our peace and joy. Peace does not dwell in outward things, but in the heart prepared to wait trustfully and quietly on Him who has all things safely in His hands.” -Elisabeth Elliot

Some pics of our kitchen before and after:

This weeks pics (I know I am slacking):
Blowing wishes!

This cute boy!

Inspiring reads, because who can't use a little inspiration and encouragement!

It’s a sacrifice, but worth it!! I wouldn’t change a thing.

We all have something. Most of us have lots of somethings.
5 things to remember in a season of change

We are in it together. Your mess becomes my mess and mine is yours. We stand side by side, in the muck and mire of life, looking to Jesus, the One who met us in our sin and took it upon himself, so that we might be cleansed forever.

I highly recommend this book....

Heart Sisters~Book Review

I can't tell you how excited I am about this book!!! I have been reading Natalie's blog for a few years and it always speaks to me. I love her realness and we have similar backgrounds.
When I saw she was looking for some gals to help her in the launch, I applied right away. It has been a blessing to be a part of this launch and group of girls that are on this journey of being Heart Sisters. I seriously can't thank Natalie enough for being obedient to the Lord's calling to write this book. It will be a blessing to so many!!

I could write pages on what I liked about this book and why you will want to read it too! Here is a little, as I don't want to spoil too much of it. I love this quote "Hearts Sisters are essential to our mental, physical, and spiritual growth." I just need to take to time to find and grow these! Love this.. "Never underestimate the power of encouragement, Heart Sisters encourage, not discourage." I tend to relate and want to be around older woman, I love their wisdom and I also consider them safe peeps, so needed! I have lots of Naomi peeps, and I do have a Rahab she is my mentor, love love her. I tend to see myself as Bathsheba or Elizabeth. So you will have to read the book to find out what type of friends you have and need and what type of friend you are.

Love these too..."Narrow Path" friends help us stay on the path that leads to God and encourage us to stay obedient to HIM in our everyday lives" We all need a narrow path friend!
"We don't ever grow if we stay where it's easy and comfortable, do we?" I like comfortable, but I know in order to grow in faith and on this journey I need to challenge myself and have no fear.
"God's truth changes our diagnosis. We are flesh-disabled, but Jesus-enabled." "Choosing relationships over being right allows us to win the battle and the war." "Heart Sisters turn on the lights and stab you in the front so the darkness is defeated." Yes, I am so thankful for those sisters that will tell me the truth to my face even if it hurts, because it is needed.

How do you get this book, well go check out Natalie's blog here...
There are some freebies right now if you order a book

So if you are a gal who has ever been hurt by a friend, struggled with connecting with gals, had issues in working along other women either in job or ministry (yes it happens, we are imperfect people), or just want to deepen those friendships you have, this is a book you need! Thank you Natalie for sharing your struggles, for being obedient to your calling, and being an encouragement to all!! This heart sister loves you!!

Journey of FAITH

Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
 My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

Wrapping up the week...

I like to say it was a normal week, but normal is over-rated and I don't live normal! We started back to school, and my hubby started prepping our kitchen floor for the new flooring that will be going in next week. I am excited because we are finally doing our kitchen remodel we have talked about since we bought the house three years ago. So we have spent a lot of time at Lowes this week, fun times, especially with two little kids! Patience is a virtue, I am still working on it!

On Monday, my six little babies left the comforts of my laundry room to their own home...the coop! Today we opened the door of the coop to let them go and roam their fenced area, however these chickens seem to like their coop a little too much, they won't leave. I guess the are chicken, ha!
I have learned a lot since we have brought these chickens home. They are great entertainment, make a good science lesson, love to listen to me sing (lucky chicks), there is one hen that thinks she is the boss (so will call her Uno), they are messy little things, and we will have expensive eggs. However it is all worth it, we love these little birds!

This week I was excited when my new planner arrived for the 2015-2016 year and I got a free bag, with one of my favorite go to verses Proverbs 3:5. Yesterday we finished up our week of school so now we are down to 4 weeks left!! Today we will venture to the library, grocery shop and piano lessons will be our learning environment for the day.

I have really been reading some great books and pondering on dreams, my personal dreams. I use to have dreams, dreams of my own, but since having children I have let my dreams go and well really they have changed. I wouldn't change a thing about it, my family is my heart! However, it is time for dreaming and adventures! More to come soon, until then love this quote from Sarah Mae's new book which speaks to my heart! "Thank goodness, there is no one-size-fits-all definition for adventure. My eyes are being opened to simple, ordinary adventures all around me. I'm up for doing things out of the ordinary, but I believe they should be things that matter to my family."

Snapshots of our week, not many, but we have been enjoying the journey!

Encouraging reads you don't want to miss:
I want this journey. All of it. All of it, it’s just a journey of faith.

Grace always shocks. Grace always stuns. Grace is always what we need.

Friends are kindness givers and Kleenex-bring-ers and joy donors when others are running on empty.

Boys need moms who parent from God’s playbook.

We are not in charge of the whole world and everyone in it…and it’s not our job to make everyone happy!

It’s such a funny thing when you become a mom. You lose yourself to it in the most beautiful way. You give of yourself, you sacrifice, and it’s good and you wouldn’t change it. But then one day you wake up and you think, “Who am I now?” You have to figure out a new normal. You’re you, but you’re different.

Have you ever wished you could do something that would change the world? Your wish has been granted. Are you tempted to think that your obscure, little life will leave no mark on the world? You have no idea how wrong you are.
