Review and Give-Away~ Bible for Teen Girls

OK so I personally don't have any teenagers living in my household, but I was one once and I have mama friends with teen girls, so I was interested in reviewing this Bible. Well, I am excited about it, love it, and looking forward to my girl one day using it. Also I know some girls that this would be perfect for gift giving!!

What I like about it, there is a great introduction at the beginning of each book of the Bible, along with indexes for women in the Bible, devotions for growing in faith, hope, and love, and more! I enjoyed reading the daily readings from ladies such as Bethany Hamilton, Christine Caine, and a few other well known ladies that you would want your daughter to know. In addition, I like the colors used and the design!

Now for the exciting part, I am able to give one away from our promotions company, all you have to do is comment you like in, no later then Sunday, November 1, 2015.

It's Friday and I am writing and sharing!!

Trying to get back into a somewhat normal routine hasn't worked so well, yes we did our school work for the week, attended our regular activities, co-op and piano. Normally I like to write a Friday rewind before the school week is over, that didn't happen, close though. So maybe we just won't be having Friday rewind around here anymore, instead I will get to it, when I get to it! As it is not high on my to do list, however I do enjoy it, it is somewhat therapeutic, and I like to look over what we did in a week. However, I have to give praises to God placing us in a new church, so not planned, but I couldn't deny the "coincidences"! I put that in quotes, because I don't believe in coincidences, I believe they are God-planned or God-coincidences! Anyhow, we have had a fun busy exciting week!! Church, school, co-op, piano, and friends over for supper!! Counting my blessings!!!

We finished up week 10 in our new schoolroom! I love our new area, more space and windows. Oh you can't imagine the difference seeing the sunlight come in does! This week we made some scarecrows, did our 3 R's...math, language arts and I have to share we enjoyed reading Owls In The Family, so much that I love to have an owl as a pet. In history we have been learning about the early Egyptians and science about animals that live in Europe. Our focus verse this week was Deuteronomy 6:4, and we finished up our month's virtue: service=using our hands, feet, and hearts to honor God and love others. Next month, is my favorite calendar month-November, because it's a beautiful time of year here in the southern states and it is Thanksgiving!! Our virtue for November is gratitude=so many reasons to be thankful! And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.~Colossians 3:17

For me personally, I have enjoyed getting back into reading. It was hard to find time during our moving process, but now that we are settled I am gaining back some of my personal time! Oh how I have missed it and oh how needed it is!! I am continuing to work my way through Beth Moore's Bible study~Children Of The Day, which I started with my Wednesday class at my previous church and because it spoke to me so much, I have continued doing it on my own. Plus it has become my favorite study of hers and probably all since I started doing Bible study years ago! Just so much truth is shared in the study and so relevant to what we Christians are being faced with daily! To be honest I struggle at times in my faith, but this study has really helped me to lean into God and trust HIM. Something I needed this year, as this year I have faced a lot of changes.

So what else am I reading....
  • In This House, We Will Giggle by Courtney DeFeo, this is where I get our monthly virtues from.
  • Teaching From Rest~A Homeschooler's Guide To Unshakable Peace by Sarah Mackenzie. I just adore her blog and video's, plus the title of the book is what grabbed my attention.
  • Girl Meets Change~Truths To Carry You Through Life's Transitions by Kristen Strong. Well because this has been the year of change for me!

Share with me what your reading or your favorite books! Really I have too many favorite's! It's the book-lover, geek in me!

Another must share, I received my 2016 planner and I am in love with the cover I picked, because it's all about the LIGHT!!!  The light is JESUS!! When we keep our eyes on Jesus, the darkness leaves this world and the light shines! So maybe I will have a theme in 2016~LIGHT!

Encouraging reads of the week:

For those struggling with anxiety, this is a good read. Anxiety gets its power from our obedience to it. Let’s give God his power back in our lives. Let’s live our lives with God’s power and tools.

Believe it, friend! Our good Father and His infinite mercy are beyond our understanding. Maybe that's why He renews them daily.

My life's focus Journey Of Faith, so this was an excellent read for me....But that “working together” is a process. It’s a journey. And the real victory for us comes in how we walk it out.

This concept of “less, done well” is more about tuning our children’s hearts than anything else. The goal is to savor. And love. And be. And what could be a better means of education than that?

So we can learn a lot from Zeke~Anxiety and Being Brave!

Our poor dog, well really Zeke is not poor, he is a very blessed dog, one we rescued from the Humane Society. In fact he is very spoiled!! Well he suffers from what I would call severe anxiety, at least that is what he would be diagnosed if he was human! No I am not a doctor, but having had some anxiety issues myself over the years, it is not hard to spot! First he does not like car rides, he will get sick or worse yet you will be required to pull-over to make a pit stop because he has to go, if you know what I mean. If you don't believe me ask my dad!

When we moved to this house I thought he love it, more freedom and room to run and play. Well he does love the outdoors, that hasn't been a problem. What I didn't anticipate is that he would have issues indoors and he is an indoor dog, has been since he was born. Well first he wouldn't go in any rooms, just stay in the living room and would end up in his bed by supper time and not move from it. Second he didn't like the tile floors, he would not walk on them, but thankfully after a few days he finally got over it. He would only go out the front door as he didn't want to walk through the garage, well the other day he finally went out the garage door! We have lived here for 10 days now! Today, he finally got brave all by himself and went on the deck and you know, I think he actually loved the view, as much as we do!! I am hoping soon, he will be brave enough to go downstairs! I am sure with a little more coaching and treat bribery he will!

So we can learn a lot from a dog!! We too can over-come anxiety! I know I have, I use to get anxiety attacks, but it has been years now, and I believe that is due to my faith! I don't worry much about things and usually don't tend to get too stressed out, though before the move I did deal with a bit of stress. However, God has reminded me once again after settling how HE is always faithful, His timing perfect, and always good!! Sometimes I just need that reminder! Much like my dog, needs to know there is nothing to fear!

Today, I will be brave and visit a new church with my kids, with people I do not know!

OK I think I probably made that word up "unroutine", but it is fitting to what the last couple weeks have been for us! You know what I actually enjoyed it, well expect for the hard work of moving and unpacking, but it created a newness in me! This week, I was planning to get back into a somewhat normal routine of schooling here, but it didn't happen, I decided I need a rest, a time to refresh and enjoy my new surroundings. I have been enjoying many sunsets and sunrises at our new place, love being surrounded by God's beauty, it seems to be everywhere, and well it is, sometimes we just forget to look for it. Yes, yesterday we did go to co-op, it is a much longer drive, but worth it! The kids enjoyed time with friends and learning new things and I enjoyed seeing some of my peeps. Abigail started back doing piano lessons and today we are headed to meetup with some of the local homeschool peeps to a pumpkin patch!
What I have learned is I don't always need to live by a schedule or a routine, though I know they are very beneficial, but sometimes you just have to be free of them, free to wander, free to explore, and free to enjoy living to the fullest. God loves us and desires for our hearts to enjoy the life HE has given us. So do not for one minute think that you can't enjoy your life, because you think you do not deserve it, because you do!

Inspiring reads:

Why you need to plan a Teacher Institute Day

Do you know what your kids need most of all? You! Being who you are and nothing more. That means skipping those assignments in the instructor’s guide that just don’t feel right, instead following the spark of life, energy, and laughter that bring joy and learning to your family’s days.

“But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one . . . May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.” 2 Thess. 3:3-5
Without His Spirit protecting, guiding, and making us holy through the process, all would be in vain.
