Friday Rewind ~ Grace & Journey

I have been pondering some this week on a couple things, hearing God speak to me, blessings, and planning!! God is big, He is good, He knows our weaknesses, but yet He uses us. He amazes me. I sometimes think God why me, why would you use me to teach my children or encourage someone that is struggling? I lack patience, definitely not one of my virtues (and yes I am a homeschooling mom!), I sometimes can be a little brash, but yet God still uses me! He continues to mold me and love me all the same! I am not perfect, never claim to be, though I can struggle with it. Sometimes I feel like I don't measure up, or I fail at something, but I remind myself, not one of us is perfect! His grace though is always, and HE is far more than enough. When we are weak, He is strong! So thankful for God and all HE teaches me, blesses me with, and helps me to accomplish!
Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. (1 Chronicles 28:20) - See more at:

We enjoyed our last week of no school. Next week we start back on our homeschooling journey, though learning is always an on going process. I finished up reading a great devotional book on homeschooling and it reminded me, homeschooling is a gift! Homeschooling is not a sprint but a marathon (much like anything else in life). We must pace ourselves on our journeys. Remember God never leaves us!
Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. (1 Chronicles 28:20)

Yesterday, we finally got too meet up with my husband on a train, hard to do that, as he doesn't have a schedule. The kids loved it!! Awesome to see your daddy running a big freight train!!! This week I helped the husband extend the chicken's area and add roofing, so they have more shade. The kids helped too, it is a good feeling to accomplish something together. Plus our chickens really love the extra room! In addition, a couple more have started laying!! Yay, nothing like fresh eggs!! We enjoyed another summer program at the library, watching Mr. Bond the Science Guy. Yes, I said we, as I enjoy them just as much as the kids!
My husband found a deal on a porch swing, now I am just waiting for some cooler days to sit out there and enjoy it!! It will make a great reading place! It's the simple things!!!

Encouraging Reads:
I never thought of courage as a spiritual gift before, but now I see how it can only be a gift coming from the Holy Spirit when I’m living in Jesus. Of course courage is a gift!

“Don’t be afraid of being different. Be afraid of being the same as everyone else.” Change your culture by changing the only thing you can: YOU. Here are 5 ways to start:

When we learn to take initiative, we reflect the out-reaching character of Christ. A spirit of initiative says, "I am God's and I will live my life for His glory. I will be His eyes to look out for places I might help, love or redeem, in the spirit of His initiation to me."

I believe God is going before us and behind us and in every detail that we entrust to Him. Whether we see His hand of protection or not, whether the outcome is what we dreamed of or not, God is for us and with us. The journey is where we learn faith, hope, and trust for the destination. We are always safe, because we are His children.

Raising Arrows!! These arrows we carve, shape, and balance are going to journey far beyond our reach. They’re what God is going to use tomorrow.

For those thinking about and starting the homeschool journey

Sunday JOY ~ Peace

Christ is the giver of peace, there is nothing in this world that will ever satisfy you fully!

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Friday Rewind~Calling

This last week I have spent some time putting the final preparations for us to be ready to start back homeschooling. The schedule is done, books are organized, have our supplies, the room is ready and I am ready, really looking forward to getting back into a routine and teaching and learning along with my children. As I reflect on what else I need to do, there isn't, I just need to put it all at the feet of Jesus and trust His plan and put Him first in our schooling, just like anything else I do. I can prepare and plan all I want, but if God isn't in it, it will not succeed!

You know I feel, and I am not comparing, those that know me know that. I am talking about our calling to homeschool. Us homeschool mom's tend to carry extra burdens (I know I have felt this and others too). We already feel like we are going against the norm (even though homeschool has grown), we face criticism. We our wives, caretakers, homemakers, some working, and in addition teaching our children. What I am learning and what we need to remember it is our calling. We have been equipped with what is required of us and how we are to do it. It is all through God's grace. So don't let the enemy tell you otherwise. God has it. We are over-comers in Christ! So live your life worthy of your calling, whatever it may be!

Ephesians 4:1-4 TLB  ~ I beg you—I, a prisoner here in jail for serving the Lord—to live and act in a way worthy of those who have been chosen for such wonderful blessings as these. Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each others faults because of your love. Try always to be led along together by the Holy Spirit and so be at peace with one another. We are all parts of one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future.

This week we enjoyed a few family days, love it when my husband gets two days off from work, don't have to worry about the phone ringing and hearing time to go get on a train (this only happens every other week)! Part of our family time was dentist appointment, but hey we have healthy teeth at least!! We picked up some extra fencing for our chickens, they have grown and really just need more space, more freedom to roam. I like to let them free range but where we live I fear for their little lives. We plan on putting some type of roofing over it to give them a little more shade too. Yes, our chickens are spoiled, and yes they give us the most expensive eggs! My husband wants to raise meat chickens next, I told him I could not be a part of that, I just get too attached. Chickens are really cute and have unique personalities. Much like little toddlers!

Abigail enjoyed attending 4H camp yesterday, she played games, completed science experiments, learned about healthy living and made some crafts.

I was blessed with some books by a homeschool mama this week, so thankful!

Learned a good lesson this week, thanks to my mentor. Sometimes, I hesitate or wait on something I guess to make sure it is OK (that perfectionist in me). However, the Lord has already placed it on my heart, I already have that authority from Him, so instead of hesitating, I just need to act, take action, move forward! So I did that this week in an area that speaks to my heart! Already been seeing the blessing from it!! God is so good, He has it, all I need to do is walk with Him!
Soon we will find out what classes the kids will enjoy at coop this year. We registered last week and in the first day 150 registered, currently it is 160 and that is about the maximum they can do this year. We are excited to be a part of this coop, learning, and meeting new people! Next week is our last week of summer break and then we start back to school! So ready to get back at it!!

Encouraging reads:

And once you are on the journey, if it becomes difficult that doesn’t mean you should quit. It means the Lord is bringing you closer to Him and teaching you. If it is truly a calling, it won’t be easy. We shouldn’t expect it to be.

I have a few homeschool friends this goes out to! "Thank you so much for your kindness.  You have NO IDEA how much it helped!"

You have amazing potential with your gifts, I only hope you see it. God works in very different ways through each of us. So it doesn’t matter what your neighbor is doing or your friends. It doesn’t matter what the popular bloggers are doing. Make time for your gift. Be intentional. Step out with the abilities God has specifically chosen for you. Choose to use your talents rather than bury them like so many people do. Use what you have been given to glorify Him.You were created to share your gifts with the world!

Love this, The Golden Hour…And mornings are just different when you're a mom.

You can’t have love without truth or truth without love. They are dependent on one another. Without both- your love is built on a lie or your truth is just a law. As the Church, who loves Jesus, we must be: Unwavering and committed to the authority of God and His Word and unwavering and committed in new and beautiful ways to radically pursue, engage and love people within our churches and outside.

Patterns of Evidence EXODUS - review and give-away

This is a film about searching for the truth of Exodus. Filmmaker Timothy Mahoney traveled to Egypt to take on archeologists, scientists and religions. Mr. Mahoney was raised christian, however lost his faith, now he wants to know is it true. What he found changed him! Will it change you?

For more then 1500 years the Bible was accepted as truth. After 1950 skepticism grew and has only increased in our county.

Exodus 13:3 Moses said to the people, "Remember this day in which you went out from Egypt, from the house of slavery; for by a powerful hand the LORD brought you out from this place.
And nothing leavened shall be eaten.

I have one DVD to give-away to one reader, leave a comment letting me know you would like to win prior to July 25, 2015.
About Patterns of Evidence Exodus:
For more than 50 years, the vast majority of the world's most prominent archaeologists and historians have proclaimed that there is no hard evidence to support the Exodus story found in the Bible.  In fact, they say that the archaeological record is completely opposed to the Bible's account.  This view of extreme skepticism has spread from academia to the world.  The case against the Exodus appears to be so strong that even some religious leaders are labeling this ancient account as historical fiction.  Filmmaker Timothy Mahoney begins with the questions, "Is the Bible just a myth, or did the archaeologists get it wrong?"  He decides to tackle this issue wit a deliberate scientific approach.   After examining the details in the biblical text, he journeys across the globe to search for patterns of evidence firsthand.  The result is the most in-depth archaeological investigation into the Exodus from Egypt ever captured on film.   This scientific documentary's goal is to communicate the TRUTH of the Bible and help equip believers with defending their faith and the Bible.

The DVD features stunning animations and a cast including narrator, Kevin Sorbo (God's Not Dead, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys), interviews with leading archaeologists including Israel Finkelstein, Kent Weeks, and David Rohl, and guest appearances by Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu and Shimon Peres.

Friday Rewind~It's HOT!!

This week and next week look to be very hot days here in beautiful Kentucky, so we enjoyed some fun activities indoor this week, with a little outside time too.

So thankful for our library, we have been enjoying some great summer programs. The kids enjoyed an art event and science event this week, last weekend they enjoyed a show put on by Kentucky Down Under. Our other fun were swim lessons, the kids think it is fun, me I sat in the shade trying to keep cool and read a book, didn't get too far, my children love it just when I watch them when they are learning something new, so I didn't want to miss out on that.  More excitement here at our house happened when our chickens gave us our first eggs! We enjoy our chickens they are like pets too us, we spoil them rotten with treats and extras like watermelon and tomatoes. They are like little garbage disposals in a way, eating what we don't finish or the scraps. I like to watch my chicks, they are entertaining and a joy to watch, who would have thought! So anyhow that is the excitement in our parts, as they say in the south!

We are just 17 days away from starting school again! I am actually excited to get back in the swing of things, routines are good thing, they keep us moving and a little more organized, though I already am gifted in that area! Till then going to try and relax and enjoy these last couple weeks. I know once school starts for us, my free time is very minimal. Maybe I will have more time for writing and sharing whats been on my heart, I have lots just have not really had time to process and get it down in words to type. I know I need to spend some more time just sitting still and enjoying HIS presence around me and all the blessings He gives me. Not easy for my personality (type A, slightly OCD). However, I love it when God awes me and He has been doing that a lot lately and I want to see and feel HIM all the time. There have been answered prayers and Him showing me confirmation on things. He is awesome like that, you just need to be open to hearing from Him. He speaks in many ways! Even when it seems our world is a dark place at times, God is still good! Plus knowing how the Book ends, it is well with my soul, is it well with your soul?

Encouraging reads:

We live in a culture of certainty. We like things that are measurable, determined, and finite. We like certainty and avoid risk and failure at all costs. But that’s never worked in God’s economy. He says the last will be first and the first will be last. What makes sense here will never make sense in His eyes. Stop trying to figure it all out. Stop justifying waiting on God with not doing anything. Stop hating the middle; the middle is where we’re made. The tiny voice you hear in the silence or the nudge you feel in your spirit when you pray is telling you to keep going. Start something. Whether you know where you’re going, or the answers don’t come: GO.

To become truly free, you must surrender. Surrender is not a popular concept. It goes against everything we think we know about being free.

Love is never wasted

What we need in our freaking-out moments, because it isn’t always the same, is it?

"Our culture is changing at breakneck speed. The carnality of our culture, the rapid changes in religious freedoms, the number of young adults rejecting the faith of their families, and the scary violations of parental rights are enough to wake us up to the reality that we really don’t know what tomorrow holds. It’s a fresh reminder to be intentional with TODAY."

Pursuing excellence leads to joy and satisfaction. Pursuing perfection leads to burnout and frustration.
