Review of Parenting with give-away!

I recently, finished reading Parenting a book wrote by Paul Tripp. I am not a big reader of parenting or how to raise your kids books, but I do like Paul Tripp, so I thought this might be worth a read. It sure was, I like his philosophy to parenting, it all points back to our belief of who we are, and our how we see ourselves, our identity! His writing points back to what God says, His Word, the Bible! What does he call us, ambassadors. "Parenting is ambassadorial work from beginning to end. It is not to be shaped and directed by personal interests, personal need, or cultural perspectives. Every parent everywhere is called to recognize that they have been put on earth at a particular time and in a particular location to do one thing in the lives of their children. What is that one thing? It is God's will." Now if that doesn't speak to what we are called to do, then this book will not be for you, but I hope you would still get it, as it has pointed out some things in my parenting that I need to change. If we are all honest, none of us are perfect, so we all need some help! Thank goodness I have a God that never gives up on His people and why we all need grace! Our children are like us, sheep, prone to wander, so why we need the great shepherd and savior, JESUS! So why our children need us. To teach them while pointing them back to Jesus. This book will help you examine your parenting. "Parenting is about being a tool of that grace in the lives of our children." His grace is life changing! "Parenting is a moment-by-moment, day-by-day rescue mission. It means that as parents we need to daily remind ourselves that we're called to rescue our children again and again, and we should not resent those moment when that rescue is necessary." Something we ourselves need to remind ourselves of in everything and this will help us in our parenting too, is "God did not create human beings to be independently able; He designed us to be dependent." So the question asked, why would God ask us inadequate people to do such an important job, such as parenting? The answer given, so true, He calls unable people to do important things. But we must humble ourselves, admit our need, and be willing to do and rely on God. God covers our weakness and changes us. That is what makes the best parents!
Are we going to fail at times, you bet! Are our children, going to make wrong choices, you bet! None of us our perfect! But with God...So if you are looking for a tool to help you in this parenting journey, I would recommend this book. It will help you see the big picture of what God is inviting you to be a part of. There are 14 chapters, each one will introduce and explain a parenting principle and show the way of grace through it. The scenarios and problems the author shared are one's I related to. This is not a book to change your children, but for you, the parents. All changes come from one source and that is God working on the inside of us. Your best parenting tool, will be the Bible! Where else would the author suggest you go to, but to the ultimate source, God's Word. So another reason why I recommend this book!

From our promotions company:

In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything “right” and raise up “good” children, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.
In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents. Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God—grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.  Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children’s hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.
