This couple shares their story of dealing with a difficulties, challenges, and having dreams and hopes changed. Living a life they never expected! They share their faith and how through God they are able to find joy, contentment, and trusting God to fulfill all their needs now and the future. That my friends is faith and our God! God really can handle it all and is, are we trusting, are we communicating with HIM? God loves us and wants what is best for us, HE is for me and you! Sometimes it is hard for us to see that and trust, but is it because we are looking through our tiny little perspective, instead of God's perspective? God has seen it all, from beginning to end! Oh how awesome is that and a reminder to self!
The chapters are short, I enjoyed reading the perspectives from both the husband and wife, as they took turns writing the chapters through the book. You can feel the rawness of their feelings throughout the pages. They share how they fight to find joy in the everyday challenges and endure through it all because of faith in the ONE that sustains them. They share how they had to find a new ordinary, the struggle in unanswered prayers, their worries, waiting and the not knowing. However, through this they point back to why they need God and we all do! It is the only answer and promise they have, or actually we have. None of us are promised an easy life or another day.
"I live in the confident hope that HE will one day renew the world, so that even the darkest and most terrible evils of this world will be undone and swallowed up in victory. And I can look at the face of Jesus and remember that, whatever the reason for suffering, it certainly isn't because HE doesn't care. Questions still linger, and tears still fall. They probably always will. In the meantime, though, I trust and hope and wait."~Andrew
"By choosing to celebrate how much I have and deciding to remind myself how little I deserve, I can sever the root of bitterness and give thankfulness the soil it needs in order to flourish, both at the same time."~Rachel "Give thanks in ALL circumstances" says Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ~ So when I start to grumble, complain or get frustrated at something, I want to remember this, really I don't deserve what I do have, but because of God, because of my Savior, I have so much, so much more than I will ever deserve. I hear people always saying life isn't fair, but it is fair, you have been given so much are we noticing?
"Faith in future grace means trusting the Giver rather than the gifts."~Rachel Your heavenly Father knows that you need them, said Jesus in Matthew 6:32.
"But God is the Captain. HE is the navigator, mapmaker, and expert. HE sets our course and knows where the land is. In light of that, my continued attempts to reclaim control of the ship are strikingly ridiculous.~Rachel This made me think of all the times I get in the way of God and what is best, instead of being still and trusting. You see I am too a work in progress, as we all are. We are here because of God! I know HE will journey with us to the very end, at which point everything that is perishable and incomplete will be gloriously resurrected and healed.~Rachel No more pain, no more sin, messing up, sickness, need for doctors, no evil... The authors write, so I fix my eyes , not on what is seen but on what is unseen. And I take a deep breath.~Rachel
