Start of a new homeschooling year...commonplace notes, encouragement and snapshots of our week!

Good reminder for us homeschooling moms!
Monday, we started our 2017-2018 Raising Arrows homeschool year! It is great being back to a routine and also thankful to be learning along with my children.

I shared last week our curriculum choices, so if you missed it go back a post or two and you will find what we are using. I am thankful to report our first week back, went well!

Also, I want to remind you if you are interested in winning a free CD, I shared a review of Nicole Nordeman's new CD which released today! So go to the following link and be sure to enter

Commonplace Notes:
  • A child is a gift, an everyday miracle.
  • In seasons of deep transformation, silence will be your greatest guide. Even if it's scary, especially if it's scary, let silence be your anchor, your sacred space, your dwelling place.~Present Over Perfect
  • We have lost sight of the fact that habit is to life, what rails are to transport cars...If we fail to ease life by laying down habits of right thinking and right acting, habits of wrong thinking and wrong acting fix themselves of their own accord.~Charlotte Mason, A Philosophy of Education
  • Prayer doesn't change God, it changes you and me.~Women Who Move Mountains
  • The Bible is the Book of Books! It is not merely a book about God – it is a book from God.~ R.C. Sproul

God has cleared out things in my life many times, sometimes ripped them out painfully, but it was for good. So if you feel lost or wondering why, this is often a good reminder. God's plans are for good and purposeful, even when we don't understand.
AMEN! Only living book that speaks life to us, teaches us truth, and how to live!

Encouraging Reads:

How do we know what to believe? Where do we find truth? Not in the sense of philosophical discussion, or lofty debate, but real truth, the kind of truth that changes peoples hearts and lives. The kind of truth that tears down strongholds can only be found in the word of God.
Worldview is developed between the ages of 18 months and 13 years.
We can only plant and water, God makes things grow (1 Corinthians 3:6–7). And this reminder of my human inadequacy actually gives me more hope.
twelve Spurgeon quotes from the world’s most famous couple about parenting even when it feels hard

1st day of school with our stack of books we started with for the week.
We read lots of books, but the first book we read when we start our learning time is the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and in righteousness
Art and Bible, learning about the 10 commandments and false idols.
